First ever official blog post, hooray!
A week before the well-deserved Holy Week vacation, me and 30 of my teammates went on a team-building in Bicol. Of course, this wasn't my first visit to Bicol. I went to Legazpi with my family when I was in high school and was fortunate enough to visit Misibis Bay before they built the resort and started charging sky high prices. The other time was last year, also with my teammates but there were just 15 of us at the time, and we were able to visit the Camsur Watersports Complex.
Since this was a 4-day trip, I decided to cut the blog up into 3 separate posts featuring the main highlights of the trip. Today's post is all about the majestic view atop Lignon Hill.
After our Zestair flight, we headed to Embarcadero de Legazpi with the hopes of going on their zipline while enjoying yet another fantastic view of Mayon Volcano. Unfortunately, the zipline was under construction so we decided to head to Lignon Hill instead.
We got to the entrance to Lignon Hill at around 3 PM (since we passed through the Cagsawa ruins first). To our surprise, the guard at the gate said that no vehicles were allowed up the hill until 6 PM supposedly because they had an event ongoing. Our team, ever so energetic, decided that we'd just hike up the hill, no worries.
I'm not really an active kind of person so I can only describe the climb to be like climbing to my death! The road was paved but the steep incline made it very difficult for those of us who are used to sitting at a desk eight hours a day. Along the way, they had put up Stations of the Cross (for the Holy Week season) and by the 7th station, each marker was a stifling reminder of how far we still had to go to reach the 14th station at the summit.
Once we got to the top, however, the ache in our muscles seemed to be melt away once met with the breath-taking 360-degree view. On one side, you could see the Pacific Ocean and on the other, the best view of the Mayon Volcano you could possibly have.
To make the view even better, we were able to stay until sunset because we wanted to wait for the vans that could only go up at 6 PM.
As an added bonus, Lignon Hill has two ziplines available. One for 250 pesos and the superman zipline for 350 pesos. I decided not to go ahead with it since I knew it couldn't live up to the Dahilayan Adventure Park Zipline in Bukidnon but this is definitely recommended for those who haven't tried going on a zipline yet.
Stay tuned for the next blog posts about Butanding Interactions and the hidden gem called Subic Beach!
Until next time,
Trina
