1. The New Girl
I love Zooey Deschanel in 500 Days of Summer. I follow her on Twitter and regularly read Hello Giggles, a blog she co-owns with her friends. I even love her sister, Emily, on Bones. There is nothing about Zooey Deschanel that I don't love. And having a weekly dose of the quirky, bubbly Zooey has me absurdly excited for the New Girl.
2. Castle
Ah... the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers. I already wrote about this before but I had to write about it again. So many things happened in last season's finale that I can hardly contain myself. Obviously, Beckett will survive the gunshot to the chest thing. But will their relationship survive the L-bomb Castle dropped at the end of the episode? Also, a couple of sources say Captain Montgomery’s replacement won't be as enthusiastic about the whole Beckett and Castle partnership so there's that.
3. Terra Nova
There has been plenty of buzz on this show when it was green lit during last year's upfronts. But in a bid to perfect the series which was supposed to premiere in January, the high-budget, Steven Spielberg-helmed show was pushed way back to September. The hype, however, has not died down as Fox has released an extended preview that gives the audience a taste of the juggernaut that is to come.
4. Walking Dead
Six episodes were too few for Walking Dead fans clamoring for more like zombies craving flesh, myself included. Thankfully, this year's season order is at 13 episodes. It's still not a full season by network standards but it's more than double last year's amount. And to be honest, Falling Skies attempt to copy the show's post-apocalyptic theme except with aliens hasn't impressed me one bit.
5. Once Upon a Time
Jennifer Morrison was one of the reasons I came to love House and I was so sad when she left the show. However, I'm glad that her next new project (after an honestly annoying stint on How I Met Your Mother) is something I actually am interested in watching. I kind of like all the re-vamping done on fairy tales usually left for movies. But as a series, dumping the entire world of fairy tales onto one town is a plot that teeters on the edge of cheesy and awesome. Nonetheless, I must tune in to see how it goes.
6. Fringe
I was on the verge of purging Fringe from my TV schedule. But their knack for cliffhangers made me hang on long enough for it to go from half-decent to mind-blowingly great. Last season's finale reserved the twist for the very, very last minutes of the episode. Peter unites the two worlds so that the two Walters and the two Olivias join forces to fix everything that is wrong with the universe. But then, Peter mysteriously disappears and no one seems to notice or even know that he ever existed. If that doesn't ensure fans will tune in for the season premiere, the cryptic trailers will.
7. Hart of Dixie
I never liked the OC. But I did love Rachel Bilson in both How I Met Your Mother and Chuck. So, I figured I'd give her a shot in Hart of Dixie, a fish-out-of-water drama about a cardiac surgeon and city girl who inherits a practice in Alabama. I'm not sure if I'll stay tuned in for a long time but this is a lot better than watching Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice.
8. Bones
Bones is preggers with Booth's baby. Well, ain't that a surprise I didn't see coming? It's probably the happiest cliffhanger in TV-land but this is sure to create a lot of tension in the upcoming season. I'm a little sad that the season is going to be cut short (for Emily Deschanel's maternity leave) but this will only probably leave me wanting for more. I'll just have to rely on Castle and Beckett for my much-needed dose of will-they-or-won't-they chemistry.
9. X-Factor
I'm not sure if I'm as excited of this show as the rest of the shows on the list. But I'm willing to give it a shot because of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. I love Cowell's blunt critiques and the expressions that he gets when he's annoyed at Paula or at a contestant. And for some reason, I enjoy watching Abdul's train wreck slurs. Also, I want to see if I'd prefer this over The Voice (which has restored my faith in TV music competitions).
10. Modern Family
Oh how I missed the Pritchett family. Their second season was just as awesome as the first and even as I re-watch all their episodes, I still find myself giggling uncontrollably at the funny bits. And although I heard news that they are re-casting the role of Lily, I'm still tuning in. As long as they don't replace Gloria or Cam, I will never stop watching.
